Troy Rallies To Beat Shamokin In Extra Innings

Troy rebounded from their tough loss to Hughesville by rallying to beat Shamokin, 13-11 in nine innings, during the second half of their baseball tournament Saturday.
Shamokin jumped out to a 7-0 first inning lead. Troy got on the scoreboard with a run in the second, then added another in the fifth before a big 8-run top six to take a 10-7 lead.
Shamokin came back with three runs in the bottom half to knot things up, with the two teams trading runs in the seventh to send it into extra innings.
After a scoreless eighth Troy pushed two across in the ninth to get the win.
Brendan Gilliland (2-for-6) had a double, 2-RBI, and two runs scored, with Pryor Teribury (2-for-5) scoring two runs and driving in two.
Logunn Heasley (2-for-5), Trey Teribury (1-for-6), and Mason Smith (1-for-5) all scored twice as Brody Ayers (1-for-3) scored and drove in two runs.
Hunter Watson (2-for-6) had an RBI as Logan Loxley and Frank Harper both scored.
Gilliland got the start, and went one-third of an inning with no strikeouts, three walks, no hits, and five runs, four of which were earned.
Watson came on but didn't record an out, allowing one hit, two walks, and two earned runs.
Vinnie Colton tossed 5 1/3-innings with four strikeouts, three walks, five hits, and three runs, two of which were earned.
Reed Palmer went the final 3 1/3-innings with four strikeouts, two walks, five hits, and one earned run.
In the second Trey Teribury hit a 1-out single followed by Watson singling. Trey Teribury was then driven in by his brother, Pryor, on a ground out for Troy's first run.
Pryor got things going in the fifth with a lead off single, then was caught out on a Mason Smith fielder's choice. Heasley, though, drove in Smith with a 2-out hit for a 7-2 ball game.
Palmer led off the sixth by reaching on an error, followed by Loxley drawing a walk. Trey Teribury reached on a fielder’s choice where they caught Palmer at third base.
A Watson single scored Loxley, followed by Pryor Teribury driving in Trey for a 7-4 score.
Harper and Pryor both scored on an Ayers hit for a 1-run game. Smith was then hit by a pitch, followed by Heasley drawing a walk to load the bases.
That set up a Gilliland single that brought in Ayers and Smith to put the Trojans up 8-7. Heasley would score followed by Gilliland taking home on a wild pitch for a 10-7 game.
In the seventh Pryor reached on a 1-out error, followed by Ayers drawing a walk. After a second out Heasley kept the rally going by reaching on an error, followed by Gilliland driving in Pryor to go up 11-10.
The Trojans would load the bases in the top of the eighth but couldn’t push any runners across.
In the ninth Heasley led off with a hit followed by Gilliland reaching on an error. After back to back outs an error off the bat of Trey scored Heasley and Gilliland for the win.
